The Environment

The Environment

Why is the environment important to us all?

Working towards being an environmentally friendly business helps us reduce our impact on the environment and preserves natural resources. Every business can help the environment in so many ways no matter how big or small. We all have to and must take ownership.

Reducing the environmental impact of our business will improve the sustainability of our business.

Recycling

Raw materials

We are committed to ways to reduce our impact on the environment. Within our manufacturing process we reuse over 95% of any raw materials on site back into our manufacturing process. We look to source as local as possible where feasible.

Packaging

We recycle paper and metallic waste on a regular basis allocating to separate areas within our site. With our business support partners we are working with these for controlled collections on a local businesses level. We are constantly looking at ways to reduce the amount of packaging by reusing what we can within our manufacturing process. Where the technology allows, we are looking to reduce as much plastic waste as possible. We offer a collection for bulk used containers so that we utilise as much of our packaging as possible.

Carbon and environment

Why environment matters to us

Although we are an industrial business, we are aware that we all have a collective responsibility to Offsetting our unavoidable CO2 emissions as well as personally. It is for us to take ownership of our personal contribution to climate change. We have a need for cleaner energy sources and opportunities for reducing our carbon emissions.

Ways we look to Reduce our Carbon Emissions

Driving to work – we employ staff locally that as well as helping the local community, allows us to encourage bike to work and walk to work. With this support, the majority are taking this option and with alternative Car sharing and public transportation helping to drastically reduce CO2 emissions. For those that travel longer distances on a regular basis we look for local accommodation to reduce the number of journeys.

Air travel – As a business we carry out and embrace today’s technology by using video conferencing software for all our international customers and suppliers so we see a well below 1% air travel usage.

Company vehicles –We have a low emissions company car directive and where applicable we actively look to source low carbon vehicles.

Insulation and energy efficient of our manufacturing facility

Where possible, we look to reduce drafts and air leaks to help with insulation. Our equipment is sourced to make us energy efficiency a primary consideration.  We look to controlling our lighting on site with a policy to turn off lights when not using them and we look to replace incandescent light bulbs with compact flourescent or LED ones. Heating is on a programmable controlled thermostat so not too high or low. Install a programmable model to turn off the heat/air conditioning when you’re not home.

Deliveries

We actively encourage bulk deliveries to reduce the number of journeys working with our customers to reduce as many ‘drops’ as possible to sites.
